Outreach to Schools
Our outreach efforts to schools includes lesson plans for teachers to use in elementary through high school and our annual essay poster contest. Information for both of these activities is located below.

Lesson Plans for Teachers (of all kinds!)
New this year, we are offering to teachers, lesson plans that highlight the fair housing and equal access aspects of some popular children’s books. Let us know what you think!

Each year Housing Rights, Inc. conducts an essay/poster contest in the public schools in the jurisdictions we serve. We ask public schools, family shelters and affordable housing developments to participate in the contest. In conjunction with this activity we send a packet of materials and lesson plans to participating schools and organizations. We also do presentations in classrooms that focus on diverse neighborhoods and the elimination of discrimination. Outreach through the schools helps us to reach people we might not otherwise be in contact with and prepares a new generation to become informed citizens! The contest is designed to inform our future renters and landlords of their rights and responsibilities.
